Integrated Carers Support Services (ICSS)

The Australian Government has provided services and support for carers for well over a decade, and in 2019, updated the programme to ICSS using the current Carer Gateway.

Chinese Welfare Services (CWS) has provided carer support since 2010 working with the Government.

A Carer is someone who looks after a family member or friend with disability, a medical condition, mental illness, or someone who is frail due to age.

Through CWS, the Carer Gateway provides carers with different types of services, including:

• Coaching / Counselling

CWS arrange for carers to learn new ways to manage stress to improve their wellbeing.

• Connect with Other Carers

CWS will assist people in similar caring situations to share stories, knowledge and experience. We arrange meetings with Carers in person, to help them learn from each other in a safe environment.

• Respite Care Service / Emergency Crisis Support

In emergency situations, respite is offered to engage someone else to care for the person you care for, so that you can have a break. This gives the Carer an opportunity to relax, deal with stress and look after themselves.

To find out more about the services offered by CWS call ICSS Coordinator Nikita Kwong on 8212 2988.
