Acknowledgement of Grants

Over time, Chinese Welfare Services has been successful in securing a range of Grants from various caring providers, including both State and Federal Governments, plus private sources.

We are extremely grateful for this support, enabling our team to provide such a diverse and high quality range of services / activities to our clients.

Thank you to all. Below is a list of some recent grants we have been fortunate to receive.

Long Term Ongoing Grant Programs

• Since 2014 - Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) – Australian Government Department of Health initiative

Provides friendly volunteers to older people who are at risk of loneliness or social isolation. Volunteer Visitors bring conversation, news, new interest and friendship, with each having been screened and inducted.

• Since 2005 – Chinese Language School – Government of South Australia Dept of Education

Provides Chinese Mandarin language classes as well as cultural information sessions.

• Since 2005 - Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) –
Federal Department of Health

Provides support for people in our community over 65 years old to live safe an independent lives in their own homes. Some subsidised services like domestic assistance, meals, transport, social support, personal care and home maintenance (like gardening), allied health and therapy services.

• Since 2017 – Home Care Packages (HCP) –
Federal Department of Health

Provides flexible plans to meet older Australian's care needs and is designed to support them living independently in their own homes. Packages are assessed and individualised to meet a care recipient's specific needs. As time progresses and needs may increase, packages can be reassessed to offer a greater range of services, aids and equipment. Chinese Welfare Services' team are bi-lingual in Chinese/English, and are qualified with a minimum of Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community), plus receive regular staff development training and updates.

• Since 2019 – Integrated Carer Support Service (ICSS) - Federal Dept of Health delivered through Carer SA

Provides support services specifically for Carers.

Short Term Project Specific Grants

• 2022-2023 – Minister for Health and Wellbeing - Wellbeing SA

To provide screening awareness and to increase confidence for Chinese participants and reduction of language and cultural barriers in accessing cancer screening services. 

• 2022-2023 – Department of the Premier and Cabinet SA - Advance Together for Effective Governance Project

To provide Board and workforce governance, including clear responsibilities & accountabilities and HR management; Clinical governance; Risk management governance.

• 2022 March – Department  of Health Australia - Aged Care Services Home Care Program (HCP) Vaccine Support

To support CWS to increase COVID-19 vaccine uptake of workforce and accurate reporting.

• 2021 - 2022 – National Australia Day Council - Australia Day Community Grants

I am Chinese Australian "Wo Shi Ao Ji Hua Ren" - several virtual events to showcase "We are Chinese Australians" in YouTube with children dancing, singing and making picture frames. This had attracted some 20,000 views on YouTube through to Sept 2022.

• 2021 - 2022 – Department of the Premier and Cabinet - Expand Together Grant Offer for CWS Promotion

To provide the purchase of event equipment for community events.

• 2021 - 2022 – Department of the Premier and Cabinet - Expand Together Grant

Offering CWS this Website upgrade in 2022, moving on from our previous 8 year old website which not conducive to viewing on smart devices. Our new revamped design also offers both dedicated Chinese and English language translations, without relying on Google automated translate.

• 2021 - 2022 – Department of the Premier and Cabinet - Multicultural Festival

To assist with performance in the State's Multicultural Festival

• 2021 - 2022 – Department of the Premier and Cabinet - Yuanxiao Project

To showcase the Lantern (YuanXiao) Festival - a tradition of end of Lunar New Year celebration with lanterns and guessing of riddles

• 2021 - 2022 – Department of the Premier and Cabinet - Yuanxiao Festival Lantern purchase

To assist with the purchase of little lanterns (600 of them) as prizes for guessing the riddles - both in English and Chinese.

• 2021 - 2022 – Department of Health - HCP program COVID-19 Vaccination Support

To assist with COVID-19 vaccination support for all of our staff and information for our community.

• 2021-2022 Department of HealthAged Care Workforce Bonus Payments

Support for all support workers in the community as bonus

• 2021-2022 Department of Health - Workforce Support by PWC (Price Waterhouse Coopers Accounting)

PWC support for HR management - templates for reviews
